Club Career

Joya, who grew up in the Bay Area of California, was played in the USSF Development Academy for De Anza Force. In early 2012, he joined Santos Laguna's organization. He began during the 2012 Clausura with the club's U-20 team. In September 2012, the midfielder made his first team debut in a Liga MX match.

In June 2015 Joya completed a transfer to second division side Necaxa.

International Career

US U-20 manager Tab Ramos has called Joya in to several camps during the 2013 U-20 World Cup cycle thus far. He was a member of the team for the 2013 FIFA U-23 World Cup.

He is now a member of the U.S. U-23 national team and has already amassed four caps.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
