Zarek Valentin signed with MLS after two years at NCAA powerhouse Akron University. He became the fourth overall pick in the 2011 MLS draft, selected by Chivas USA. Valentin played 25 games in his rookie season, but was left exposed in the expansion draft that winter. The fullback was subsequently selected by the expansion Montreal impact.

Valentin missed parts of the 2012 season with injury, but still started 14 games for the Impact. Montreal acquired several more defenders for the 2013 season, crowding Valentin out the picture.

In March 2013, Valentin moved to Bod°/Glimt on loan for the length of the Norwegian season.

International Career

Valentin was a member of the US U-20 team that competed unsuccessfully at the 2011 CONCACAF qualifying tournament.
