Club Career
Richards' path to the professional game started with two seasons in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy with FC Dallas and Texans SC Houston. In addition, he played with Birmingham United Soccer Association, winning one Alabama state championship as well as the Hoover Soccer Club from U-5 to U-14, winning two Alabama state championships.
The towering center-back started to attract interest from European suitors, especially German giants Bayern Munich. In January 2019, Richards would sign a contract with Bayern and start off with the U-19 team with a six-month loan. After a promising start, the first team would include him in their journey abroad for the International Champions Cup, and he would play against the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Manchester City.
Richards has played primarily for Bayern Munich II and played a major role in their rise up to the 3. Liga, Germany's third tier.
In June 2020, after many brilliant performances with the reserves, Richards was promoted to Bayern's first team. He would make his debut in the team's 3-1 win over Freiburg.
International Career
Richards has represented the United States at the U-19 and U-20 level so far.
