Jozy Altidore scored his first goal for Villarreal in almost two years helping the Spanish club earn a 2-2 draw in a friendly versus Besiktas of Turkey on Sunday.
The goal game in the 79th minute as the US international volleyed home a cross from the six yard line helping the Yellow Submarine draw level against the visitors.
It was the first time Altidore found the back of net while wearing a Villarreal jersey since he became the first ever American to score in a La Liga match in the fall of 2008 as part of a Villarreal 1-4 win at Athletic Bilbao.
Rumors have persisted in the last week that Besiktas and Villarreal were working on an agreement that would see the Turkish club either acquire Altidore on loan or perhaps even purchase the striker outright.
It remains to be seen if an agreement will be reached between the two clubs along with Altidore's consent or if the New Jersey native will stay on with the Comunidad de Valencia club which he expressed a desire to do in an interview with YA last month.
Altidore is now back stateside with the US national team in preparation for Tuesday's friendly versus Brazil at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
