Wednesday the Irish website Irishcentral.com issued a report that said that the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) are going to step up their recruiting of Irish-American players in the United States and North America.
According to the report, Ireland's head coach Giovanni Trapattoni initiated the movement with hopes that they can find American players who are eligible for Irish citizenship that can further help the Irish national team.
It went on to state that Trapattoni recently requested a list of all players in the North American soccer leagues with Irish sounding names.
He has also asked the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) for a list of all Irish qualified players in the MLS.
So while most American players who have Irish passports, like Michael Parkhurst, have elected to play for the US, the FAI will be stepping up their efforts to see that future players choose to play for The Boys In Green.
