KIRYAT SHMONA CLAIMS SECOND SCALP
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
JAMIE HILL - Monday, October 24, 2011
Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona recorded its second consecutive high-profile upset in the Israeli Premier League this week.

Los Angeles-born midfielder Bryan Gerzicich scored the final goal of a 3-0 rout of Maccabi Haifa. The important road win came on the heels of a 2-1 victory over traditional power Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona is punching above its weight again this season, currently occupying fourth place in the standings. The club represents a town of 23,000 people in the far northeastern corner of Israel, wedged between the Lebanese border and the Golan Heights.

Since arriving at Kiryat Shmona from Hapoel Haifa at the beginning of last season, Gerzicich has been a steady influence in the center of the park, playing nearly every minute for the club.
