BRIAN SCIARETTA - Saturday, January 14, 2012
As Hertha Berlin prepares to begin the second half of their season, three Yanks are now playing with the club's during the winter break.

On Friday, Hertha defeated Swiss Super League club FC 4-2 and US U20 central defender John Anthony Brooks earned the start. In the midfield, Alfredo Morales was also in the starting lineup under new coach Michael Skibbe.

In the 13th minute Morales picked up an assist when his cross found Anis Ben-Hatira.

With the score 2-2 at the half, Skibbe made a number of changes and one was to bring in 18 year old US U-20 forward Jerome Kiesewetter for his first appearance with the first team in a friendly.

The young forward did not score but he has earned very positive reviews from both members of the press and from Skibbe who singled out Kiesewetter in the media as having a very good few weeks of training.

Hertha Berlin currently sit in 11th place in the Bundesliga. They resume their season on January 21 when they visit Nurnberg.

not so sure about Brooks making the olympic team... he's a bit too young.

Too much forward depth for Kiesewetter to make the Olympics, but I'm glad to hear he's coming along!

Two of three will surely be on the olympic team. 1. Brooks 2. Morales
