BRIAN SCIARETTA - Wednesday, February 1, 2012
Borussia Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp recently went to the German media and offered praise of US U-23 forward Terrence Boyd.

With the close of the transfer window this winter, Dortmund sold forward Mohamed Zidan opening up a spot on Dortmund's first team.

Klopp said that Dortmund are taking things slowly with Boyd but they are preparing him for a future with the defending German champions.

Klopp also added that Boyd and U-19 forward Marvin Ducksch will be training with the first team for this week, at least.

Boyd, 20, enjoyed a great first half of the season with Dortmund's U-23 team where he scored 10 goals in the Regionalliga.

@Jimbo
whats wrong with that? I think as fans of the USMNT we would all like to see our potential "future stars" get called into camp. And since Klinsman said that the WC team is going to have 5 to 7 guys from the olympic team on the roster it is very likely that these guys will all get called in at some point in the near future.

@ AWARD

you have been saying that you wouldn't bee surprised to see Gatt, Morales, Boyd, Gyau, and every other talent the USA has overseas, called into camp since about August of last year. Enough bro. None of them have been called up. You sound like a broken record.

we definitely need a striker but the kid is young and has now just broken into a first team, so let's not get too carried away. would be good though to see him capped and see how he does against italy.

I hope he turns into the Striker we so badly need on the National team that we have not had since McBride retired.

Don't even worry about it Award. I read an interview that he did in October or November...he is as American as it gets. He was even trying to convince other German-Americans to join the US like him.
I really think he is the most talented striker in our player pool right now. And that's a pool that includes Bijev, Salgado, Wood, Agudelo, etc.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Jurgen calls him up for the Italy friendly. Bunbury and Agudelo are still struggling. Altidore has been relegated to the bench and is seeing spot minutes, and really no other U.S. Striker besides Dempsey and Wooten is showing considerable striking instincts. Wouldn't surprise me at all if both Boyd and Gyau get called up. I really do hope this guy stays committed to the U.S.

Greatest US striker? Brian McBride only stopped playing 4 years ago, and he's forgotten so quickly? Clint Dempsey only broke McBride's scoring record for a Yank in the EPL last month....and Dempsey is used as a forward half the time as well.

Give Boyd a decade, then we'll see.

Good news, if he can continue down this path he can become the greatest US striker up until this point.
