TOTTENHAM SEAL DEMPSEY SWITCH
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
CHAD WINGER - Friday, August 31, 2012
The transfer saga of USMNT attacker Clint Dempsey is finally resolved with the American moving across town to Tottenham Hotspur, joining compatriot Brad Friedel.

Tottenham, who had their offer of 6m pounds accepted by Fulham, immediately inked Dempsey to a three-year deal.

Dempsey, who scored 23 goals for the Cottagers last season, was long-rumored to join Liverpool, however the Anfield unit were unable to reach Fulham's valuation of the former New England Revolution man, leaving an opening for Tottenham sneak in and sign the 29-year old.

Earlier in the afternoon, Liverpool lodged a 4m bid for Dempsey with Fulham which was immediately rejected. On Thursday, Aston Villa had a 7m bid accepted, but the American was uninterested in joining the moribund Villans.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
