FRIEDEL PENS NEW TOTTENHAM DEAL
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
BRIAN SCIARETTA - Thursday, December 27, 2012
Former US national team goalkeeper Brad Friedel has signed a new one year extension with Tottenham through the 2013/14 season.

The deal was confirmed on Tottenham's official website.

Friedel, 41, is the oldest player in the Premier League and earlier this season on October 7, his record streak of 310 consecutive Premier League starts ended when Tottenham coach Andre Villas-Boas elected to start French captain Hugo Lloris instead. His streak began with Blackburn Rovers and continued with Aston Villa, then Tottenham.

A native of Lakewood, Ohio, Friedel is one of the most famous American soccer players of all-time with his international highlight coming at the 2002 World Cup when he helped the Americans to a run to the quarterfinals.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
