BRIAN SCIARETTA - Wednesday, January 9, 2013
US U20 midfielder Marc Pelosi played a full 90 Liverpool's U-19 team in an impressive 4-1 win over Inter Milan in the NexGen Series.

The game completed group play for Group 5 and Liverpool finished third place behind Italy's Inter Milan and Norway's Rosenborg but ahead of Germany's Borussia Dortmund. Pelosi was a regular for Liverpool who finished with three wins and three losses in group play.

They will now advance to the round of 16.

The NextGen series is one of the elite youth competitions for club soccer in Europe featuring young players from the youth systems of many of UEFA top clubs.

Inglethorpe sees him as a 8 as far as his natural position...not sure he will get a lot of games there due to the players ahead. The good thing with Pelosi is that he can fit pretty much anywhere. He will normally start every match because he is a consistent player...might not be the most skilled or talented but will always have good performances. Not sure how much he will play the 8 though. There are quite a few great players vying for time in the middle. Coady has the 6 locked down. Adorjan normally starts at the 10. Roddan is usually the 8 with Jack Dunn, Jordan Lussy, Joao C Teixeira all getting worked in. It all depends on who is available to Inglethorpe to where Pelosi plays.

Liverpool's coaches want Pelosi at the #8. They see him more of an attacking box to box mid. So I would get used to seeing him there instead of on the wing going forward.

Tab Ramos is also going to be using Pelosi at the 8 as well.

Played well, didn't quite make the impact he has made in previous outings. Yesil, Ibe, Coady, and McLaughlin stole the show. To be fair, he was playing the 8 instead of playing on the wing where he has been in recent games. It's good to be versatile to ensure getting constant PT but sometimes makes it hard to get any rhythm. Rodgers has been praising him along with others of late. Hopefully, he can get into one of the Cup games, at least on the bench like Yesil, Sinclair, and Morgan.
