BRIAN SCIARETTA - Tuesday, February 12, 2013
Brek Shea is off to a strong start at Stoke after scoring in his first friendly for the Premier League club.

On Tuesday in a closed door friendly against Burnley, Stoke lost 2-1 but Shea provided the team's bright spot when he found the back of the net in his first game for the club.

Burnley, who sit in ninth place in the Championship, scored the first two goals for a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Shea, 22, however drew Stoke to within one when he scored at the start of the second half on a header off a corner.

After signing a four and a half year contract with Stoke on the last day of the January transfer window, Shea is continuing to make progress in his return from ankle surgery in November.

Shea could make his Premier League debut on Saturday, February 23 when Stoke visit Fulham at Craven Cottage.

That's fantastic news. Hopefully he gets off to a great start and be productive. Would like to see him rejoin the USMNT against Costa Rica...you all know we could use some attacking variety.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
