United States U-20 national team head coach named Freiburg's Caleb Stanko as the team's captain for World Cup qualifying

Stanko, 19, has been a regular with the US U20 team this entire cycle where he has featured in central defense, defensive midfield, and right back.

In the upcoming World Cup qualifying tournament it is likely that the Michigan native plays in central defense. The team has been hit hard with injuries at the position as regulars Will Packwood and Walker Zimmerman are both out with injuries. Hertha Berlin's John Anthony Brooks was not released by his club.

Stanko as moved up from Freiburg's U19 team to their U23 team this season. He joined the club in 2011.

First off, I must admit, this is as much a plausible wish-list as it is an attempt to decipher Klinsmann's plan.
