According to a report Ouest France, USMNT midfielder Alejandro Bedoya will sign a three year deal with FC Nantes in Ligue 1.
Bedoya, 26, has been with Helsingborg in Sweden for the past year and that move rejuvenated his career after a difficult season with Rangers in 2011/12. His strong play with Helsingborg has also brought him back into the U.S national team picture where he was part of the Gold Cup winning team this summer.
At the Gold Cup, Bedoya played very well in the final two games. Against Honduras in the semifinals, Bedoya had two assists in a 3-1 win and against Panama in the final, he assisted on the game's only goal.
The report from Ouest France cited Franck Kita, the CEO of FC Nantes, as confirmation of the deal which was expected to be announced on Thursday.
FC Nantes are historically a strong team in France having won Ligue 1 eight times. Its most recent championship came in 2001. Over the past decade the club has fallen on hard times where it has been relegated to Ligue 2 multiple times. Last year it was promoted back to Ligue 1.
