The Allsvenksan season opens Saturday March 13 with Kalmar FF visiting IFK Göteborg, weather permitting.

Three tasty tidbits to whet appetites for the upcoming Swedish kickoff:

Santiago Bedoya to join his brother

Fresh off Alejandro Bedoya's positive showing with the US men's national team comes a report that his little brother, Santiago Bedoya, will join his sibling for a trial with Örebro SK sometime in June or July.

The younger Bedoya is a 21 year-old left back currently playing with Northeastern University. A regular in the starting line-up, he has three goals and eight assists, in 59 games, earning all conference honors for the 2009 season.

Johann Smith trials in Kalmar

Although his rights are owned by Croatia's HNK Rejka, Johann Smith trained with Kalmar FF today. The former Bolton youth and US U20 player will get a look with the Allsvenskan team's junior team in action this weekend.

Halmstad duo play in Barcelona

Right back Ryan Miller was a 90 minute man and Micheal Thomas played the entire second half against RCD Espanyol's senior team on March 4. The 2-0 defeat was Espanyol's revenge for an 8-1 thrashing Halmstads BK delivered to their youth team a week earlier.
