Midweek England action saw Tim Howard's Everton draw with Arsenal while Stuart Holden and Sheffield Wednesday tied Blackpool.

Arsenal 0-0 Everton

Tim Howard and Everton managed a scoreless draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in London.

The American ‘keeper started and went the distance as usual for the Toffees.

Everton's best chance came in the second half when Ross Barkley sent in a shot from outside the box that went just wide of Arsenal's goal in the 65th minute.

In the 78th minute Arsenal nearly notched the victory as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got himself in good position in front of goal, but instead of shoot, he decided to square the ball to a teammate. However, Everton's Seamus Colemen was able to beat the Gunners to the ball and clear it from danger.

The Toffees stay in 6th place and remain two points from Tottenham and Chelsea in the standings with five games left in the season. They take on Sunderland this weekend on the road.

Blackpool 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Stuart Holden was back in the lineup in Sheffield Wednesday's goalless draw at Blacpool.

Holden, who missed the Owls weekend match, played 60 minutes before being pulled for Kieran Lee.

The tie, along with other results in the Championship, pushes Sheffield Wednesday closer to the drop zone, as they are just three points above the bottom three.

The Owls came close to finding the back of the net in the first half, as Jermaine Johnson and Giles Coke both had chances. However, Blackpool's goalie Matthew Gilks was in fine form and kept the home team in the game.

Just after halftime Blackpool had their best chance of the game as Kirk Broadfoot's header off of a Thomas Ince cross went off the cross bar and out of danger.

With three games left in the season the Owls take the field once again this weekend to play Ipswich Town.
