Carlos Bocanegra and Racing Santander were unable to hold another lead and fell at Almería on Sunday afternoon.

Almería 2 - Racing Santander 1

Bocanegra and Santander took the lead in the 29th minute behind a Jairo Samperio goal, the sixth of the 19 year old Spaniard. However, much like previous weeks, the Highlanders were unable to maintain the lead.

In the 37th minute, Brazilian forward Charles was brought down in the box and converted the penalty to tie the match. Then, as the match was winding down, Charles scored his second of the day and 22nd of the season to see Almería remain in the chase for promotion.

Santander are now seven points behind Mirandés and look to be surely relegated once again. They are in 21st position with 35 points and have only four matches remaining.

Next week Bocanegra and the Highlanders host Real Madrid's B team at El Sardinero, where they'll try to break their three match losing streak.

Notes

Oguchi Onyewu did not make the 18 as Málaga lost 1-0 to Granada.
