MATHEW WAGNER - Sunday, May 5, 2013
Steve Clark and Hønefoss were one bounce away from recording a big win, while Zarek Valentin assisted on two goals for Bodø/Glimt.

Aalesund FK 2 - 2 Rosenborg BK

Mikkel Diskerud and Rosenborg came back from a two-goal deficit to steal a point at Aalesund on Saturday.

Diskerud started in the central midfield for Rosenborg but only played the first half because of a tactical substitution.

Aalesund took the lead in the 26th minute off a Fredrik Carlsen. A few yards inside the left sideline, Carlsen sent his free kick deep inside the 18-yard box, where it went to Leke James. The Nigerian forward towered over Diskerud and headed home from eight yards away from net.

Coming out of the break with that scoreline, the home team doubled its lead in the 52nd minute. Fredrik Ulvestad picked up a failed clearance just outside the 18-yard box and blasted a shot into the top left corner of the net.

Down two goals, Rosenborg started its comeback in the 65th minute. Bořek Dočkal dribbled through a few defenders in the box and shot toward net, only to have Aalesund goalkeeper Sten Grytebust stop it. The goalkeeper didn't hold onto the ball, and Tarik Elyounoussi picked up the rebound and put it into the back of a wide-open net.

In the 72nd minute, the Troll Kids got their equalizer when Tobias Mikkelsen had a free run along the left wing and dribbled into the box. He passed back to John Chibuike, who slotted it home.

With the tie, Rosenborg dropped into fifth place with 11 points. The Troll Kids return to action on Wednesday against Tromsø.

Hønefoss BK 1 - 1 Tromsø IL

Steve Clark, Kenneth di Vita Jensen and Hønefoss came inches away from taking away all three points in an up-and-down match against Tromsø on Sunday.

Clark went the distance in net for Hønefoss, while di Vita Jensen dressed but did not come off the bench.

Despite being an exciting first half, both teams went into the break without a goal. That changed early in the second half, when Tromsø's Morten Moldskred headed in a Saliou Ciss cross past Clark.

Eight minutes later, Hønefoss found the equalizer. On a counterattack, Mikkel Vendelbo got the ball and sent a shot through Tromsø goalkeeper Marcus Sahlman's five-hole.

As the clock ran out in the match, Hønefoss came close to scoring the match-winner. In the third minute of stoppage time, Sahlman saved an Alexander Solli shot, and Riku Riski fired the rebound into the crossbar. The ball went straight down before being sent to safety.

Although gaining a point, Hønefoss fell into 15th place and the direct-relegation zone. The team returns to action on Wednesday at Vålerenga.

Bodø/Glimt 3 - 0 Follo

Zarek Valentin and Bodø/Glimt bounced back from an ugly loss the week before for a big win over Follo on Sunday.

Valentin started and went the distance at right back in the winning effort.

Bodø/Glimt dominated from the opening whistle and scored two goals in the first seven minutes - both by Ibba Laajab with Valentin assisting. The first came in the fifth minute, when Valentin had space on the right wing and found Laajab in the box for the goal. Then, in the seventh minute, Valentin put Laajab on net with the Norwegian winger doubling up his goal tally in the match.

That score held until the 57th minute, at which point Bodø/Glimt put away the match for good. Papa Alioune Ndiaye stole the ball off Steinbakk Olsen in the Bodø/Glimt half and sent a through ball to Dane Richards, who streaked toward the net. At the edge of the 18-yard box, he chipped a shot over the goalkeeper and into the net.

With the win, Bodø/Glimt moved into fourth place in the Adeccoligaen, and the team returns to action on Thursday at Vard Haugesund.

Ullensaker/Kisa IL 2 - 0 Vard Haugesund

Anthony Avalos and Vard went down early and couldn't recover at Ullensaker/Kisa.

Avalos started on the right wing and played 78 minutes in the losing effort.

Ullensaker/Kisa wasted no time in taking care of its opponents, scoring both goals in the first 13 minutes. The first goal came in the seventh minute, when a deflected pass still reached its intended target, Steevan Dos Santos. Dos Santos sent the ball into the opposite corner of the net.

Then, in the 13th minute, Simen Kind Mikalsen scored off a Lars Jørgen Mork corner. The left back was unmarked by Vard defenders and headed home from eight or nine yards away.

That proved to be all that Ullensaker/Kisa needed, and the team cruised to the win. With the loss, Vard dropped to 14th place in the Adeccoligaen standings, and the team returns to action on Thursday against Bodø/Glimt.

Notes

Josh Gatt and Molde look to record their first win of the season when they take on Start on Monday.

Rhett Bernstein played a minute in stoppage time during Mjøndalen's 1-0 win over Ranheim on Sunday.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
