Carlos Bocanegra played 90 minutes as Racing Santander picked up a big home win against Real Madrid Castilla on Sunday.

Racing Santander 1 - Real Madrid II 0

Bocanegra picked up a yellow card in the 37th minute and was part of a solid defensive effort that kept Madrid off the scoreboard. Prior to Sunday's match, Madrid hadn't lost in March 30th and Santander had lost four straight matches.

David scored the only goal of the match and the Highlanders settled into defense for the remaining 40 minutes. They kept the highest Segunda División team goalless and hung on for the win.

Santander moves up one spot with Sunday's win and into 20th place with 38 points. They trail Mirandés, who is safe in 18th place by five points with four matches left to play.

Next week, Bocanegra and Santander travel to Catalonia to take on 12th place Sabadell in another must-win contest.

Notes

Oguchi Onyewu was an unused substitute as Málaga drew with Sevilla 0-0.
