CONCACAF today revealed the 35 player preliminary rosters for each of the Gold Cup teams this summer and U.S coach Jurgen Klinsmann is bringing an experienced squad.

The most noteworthy inclusions on the roster are veterans Oguchi Onyewu and Landon Donovan. Onyewu continues to struggle for playing time after moving to Malaga this summer and Donovan recently returned to the Galaxy after taking four months off to ponder his future in the sport.

The roster also includes only three players who have never been to a U.S national team camp. The leading name is Philadelphia Union forward Jack McInerney who currently is tied for the scoring lead in MLS. Bobby Wood is also on the roster as he returned to first team action with 1860 Munich after missing a long period of time due to a knee injury. Corey Ashe, who was called up to the U.S national team but never arrived in camp due to an injury, is the last potential U.S debutant.

With the recent news that the winners of the Gold Cups in each of the cycles would compete in a playoff for the region's Confederation Cup berth, the U.S team is bringing a more experienced roster than usual for this Gold Cup (previously without a Gold Cup spot on the line).

As many of these players are from MLS and already with the team I fully expect a fair number of them to fall off the roster as it will be hard to keep players away from club commitments while in season for the 8 weeks that the 2 camps span. The likely losses to the 35 above are:
Eddie Johnson, Gram Zusi, Omar Gonzalez, Matt Besler, Brad Evans, & Brad Davis.
this drops the squad down to 29. From here there are some that just don't belong in the conversation....Chris Wondolowski, Alan Gordon, Kyle Beckerman, & Gooch. Which brings us down to 25 (24 after 1 of the 4 GK's is rotated out). That leaves 1 player to eleminiate to get to the 23 allocation spots. IMO I'd send either Gomez (we know what he can do), Bobby Wood or Jack McInerney as the likely options.

Agreed. That kid does not disappoint when called upon by the USMNT. Agudelo should be here
