Giuseppe Funicello's return to the starting lineup came at the right time as Thor played to a draw with third place UMF Stjarnan at home Sunday.

As for the other Americans on the squad, Chukwudi Chijindu came on in the 81st minute while Josh Wicks was an unused substitute as he continues to rehab his hamstring injury.

It was the visitors that got on the board first through a goal in the 29th minute goal from Veigar Gunnarsson.

Thor responded just before the end of the half with a goal from Hlynur Magnusson in the 40th minute.

Stjarnan were reduced to 10 men in the 66th minute when the goal scorer Gunnarsson was given a straight red card.

Thor was unable to find the winner despite the man advantage and the game frustratingly ended in a draw.

The tie brings Thor up to seven points on the year through eight matches but due to other results they slip one spot to ninth place. Their next match sees them travel to face eighth place Keflavik IF on Sunday.

Stjarnan remains in a European spot by staying in third place with 17 points from eight games so far. They return home to face off against sixth place IB Vestmannaeyja also on Sunday.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
