Zarek Valentin and Bodø/Glimt fell short of another upset in the NM Cup.

FK Haugesund 1-1 (5-3) FK Bodø/Glimt

Zarek Valentin couldn't hold onto a one-goal lead and lost in penalty kicks to Tippeligaen-team Haugesund on Wednesday.

Valentin manned the right back position for the entire match and picked up a yellow card in the 58th minute.

Bodø/Glimt shocked the home team by taking the lead just eight minutes into the match. On the left wing, Ulrik Berglann passed to Papa Ndiaye, who took a couple of dribbles to his right to center himself. Ndiaye then fired a 22-yard shot into the upper right corner for the goal.

Haugesund eventually recovered, but Bodø/Glimt held strong to keep the one-goal lead into halftime. The Adeccoligaen team managed to keep that in the second half, although Haugesund eventually took over the match more and more.

When Bodø/Glimt was just minutes away from clinching a berth in the semifinals, the defense slipped up, as Haugesund scored a 90th minute equalizer. After a run by a Haugesund player from the right, the ball squeezed through the mass of people deep in the 18-yard box, ending up with Henrik Kjelsrud Johansen. Johansen had an easy look on net from six yards away.

Neither team could score the match-winning goal in extra time, leaving it up to penalties. In the end, Haugesund advanced on penalty kicks. Bodø/Glimt returns to league action

Rhett Bernstein did not dress for Mjøndalen in the team's 2-0 loss to Molde on Wednesday. Joshua Gatt was not in the lineup for Molde because of a knee injury.
