Four American's saw action for Club Tijuana, including Paul Arriola's first professional start as they drew with Firpo on Tuesday night in their Champions League opener.
Club Tijuana 0 - 0 Firpo
Edgar Castillo, Joe Corona and Arriola all started while Gregory Garza entered the match in the 83rd minute at the Devil's Cauldron in El Salvador.
The Xolos were frustrated by the Firpo defense, who were mostly content to play defensive soccer and clog the middle of the field.
The disjointed match featured 42 fouls and only six shots on target as both offenses were starved for chances. Arriola was deployed as left striker in his first professional start and has two assists as a substitute in Liga MX play.
Corona picked up a yellow card in the 61st minute for a rough tackle, which the Xolos must keep in mind as they continue on in Group play.
The Xolos return to Mexico and will host Pumas on Friday night and return to Champions League play on August 20 with a trip to Honduras to take on Victoria.
