BRIAN SCIARETTA - Friday, August 9, 2013
Juan Agudelo has signed a pre-contract with Stoke City and will join the Premier League club in January.

Both the New England Revolution and Stoke City confirmed the deal to YA and issued press releases on the deal. Agudelo was in the last year of his MLS contract.

Agudelo, 20, has developed his career in MLS after singing with the Red bulls when he was just 17 years old. Last year he was traded to Chivas USA and earlier this year he was traded again to the New England Revolution.

The Colombian born Agudelo has battled injuries in his young career and so far has scored 14 goals in roughly 3919 minutes. Qualifying for a British work permit, however, could prove to be an interesting battle as Agudelo has not been capped in 2013 and had just one in 2012.

It is still possible that Stoke could come to terms for an early transfer but for now, Agudelo is set to join in the winter.
