BRANDON WIGGINS - Sunday, August 25, 2013
Alejandro Bedoya made his first Ligue 1 start on Sunday, but he and FC Nantes lost to Paris Saint-Germain at home.
Bedoya was given a yellow card in the 33rd minute, but otherwise made a lot of his opportunity and was involved in a couple near scoring opportunities for Nantes at the wing-back position. However, Nantes struggled against a PSG squad that dominated the possession game, maintaining the ball for nearly two-thirds of the match.
PSG struck first in the 24th minute of the match when Zlatan Ibrahimovic passed the ball to Edinson Cavani in the right side of the penalty box and Cavani was able to knock the shot in.
However, PSG made a major mistake early in the second half when Alex scored an own goal in the 52nd minute. PSG later made up for this mistake when Ezequiel Lavezzi scored from the center of the penalty box in the 73rd minute.
The win marks the first of this Ligue 1 season for the reigning champions, while Nantes remains at three points in the league table, all coming from their opening week win.
Defender Gregory Van Der Wiel was given a yellow card for PSG.
Nantes will next visit Stade de Reims this Saturday, while PSG will host En Avant de Guingamp that same day.
