BRANDON WIGGINS - Monday, September 23, 2013
Alejandro Bedoya and FC Nantes suffered a disappointing loss on the road at Olympique Lyonnais last Sunday.
Bedoya started at right midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation and played 79 minutes for Nantes.
Nantes struck first in the match, when Jordan Veretout headed in a cross from Issa Cissokho. Nantes' lead, however, would be short-lived, as Jimmy Briand of Lyon headed a pass from a set piece to teammate Bafétimbi Gomis on the right side of the penalty box, and Gomis was able to knock the shot in.
Lyon would take the lead outright early in the second half, when Clément Grenier converted a free kick into the bottom right corner of the net.
Briand and Grenier would combine to score the final goal of the match in the 72nd minute, when Grenier found Briand with a cross and Briand was able to put the ball in the bottom left corner of the net.
Bedoya had Nantes' first two opportunities to score in the first few minutes after Lyon's third goal, but his first shot was wide to the right and his second shot was blocked.
With the loss, Nantes has now fallen back into the bottom half of the Ligue 1 table.
Bedoya and Nantes will attempt to bounce back when they host OGC Nice. Lyon, meanwhile, will visit AC Ajaccio.
