Tim Howard and Everton's unbeaten run was snapped by Manchester United, while Jozy Altidore's Sunderland continue their struggles as they went down to Manchester United.

Manchester City 3-1 Everton

Tim Howard and Everton's unbeaten start to the Premier League season was snapped as Manchester City defeated them at the Etihad Stadium.

Howard recorded four saves and an unfortunate own-goal in the second half.

The day started off well for the Toffees as Romelu Lukaku continued his strong start to the season with an impressive individual effort to sneak his way past the City defense and beat ‘keeper Joe Hart in the 16th minute.

Just a minute later however City leveled the game as Yaya Touré sent a through pass into the box to Álavaro Negredo who found the back of the net.

City then took the lead right before half time as David Silva found Sergio Agüero at an awkward angle in the box, and the Argentinean was able to blast a low shot passed Howard for the goal.

In the 69th minute City were awarded a penalty kick after Pablo Zabaleta was taken down in the box by Seamus Colemen. Agüero stepped up and sent a shot to Howard's left that he was able to get a hand on, but the ball ricocheted off the post, onto his head, and into the goal. The tally was recorded as an own-goal on the American ‘keeper.

The Toffees were unable to claw their way back and Manchester City went on for the win.

Everton's first loss of the season drops them to seventh place. They look to bounce back in two weeks against Hull City.

Fulham 1-0 Stoke City

Geoff Cameron and Stoke City went down to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Cameron went the distance at right-back while Brek Shea and Maurice Edu did not make the game day roster.

The Potters were the better of the teams in the first half, but the second half saw the home team improve and get rewarded in the end.

Fulham's Pajtim Kasami's shot was deflected to Darren Bent who was able to round Stoke's defense and ‘keeper Asmir Begovic and slot the ball into the back of the net in the 83rd minute.

The loss sinks the Potters into 16th place. They have now lost their last three league games and hope to get back to winning ways when they take on West Bromwich Albion in two weeks.

Hull City 0-0 Aston Villa

Brad Guzan and Aston Villa drew on the road against Hull City-

Guzan had a fairly easy match as he only had to make one save.

The match was even throughout, however the best chances in the game came from Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor who was robbed of a goal by Hull's ‘keeper Allan McGregor in the first half and had an effort that went just wide in the second half.

Villa is 10th in the standings and have lost just once in their last four games in all competitions. They take on Tottenham in two weeks at Villa Park.

Sunderland 1-2 Manchester United

Jozy Altidore and Sunderland continue their horrid start to the Premier League season as they went down to Manchester United at home.

Altidore agains went the distance for the Black Cats but was unable to open his league account with his new team.

Sunderland started the game off in great fashion as a push into the box and United's inability to clear the ball out of danger allowed Craig Gardner to sweep the ball passed ‘keeper David De Gea in the 5th minute.

Later in the first half the Black Cats nearly doubled their lead as Emanuele Giaccherini's header was saved miraculously by De Gea.

United leveled the game in the 55th minute as Patrice Evra's low cross into the box was smashed into the back of the net by teenager Adnan Januzaj.

Just six minutes later United took the lead when John O'Shea's attempted clearance fell to Januzaj who volleyed the ball passed ‘keeper Kieren Westwood for the goal.

The Black Cats mounted pressure near the end of the game but were unable to level.

Sunderland continue at the bottom of the table with just one point from seven games. They take on Swansea City on the road in two weeks.

Birmingham City 1-2 Bolton Wanderers

Jonathan Spector's Birmingham City went down to Tim Ream's Bolton in Championship action.

Both Spector and Ream went the distance, while Stuart Holden is injured long-term for Bolton. The Blue's Will Packwood did not dress.

Bolton opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a goal from Jermaine Beckford and then doubled their lead when Neil Danns found the back of the net in the 64th minute.

The Blues were able to cut the lead in half with a goal from Nikola Zigic in the 69th minute, but were unable to level the game in the final minutes.

Ream played a strong game at center back for Bolton, as they went on to win their first game of the season in league play.

The Wanderers look to notch another win when they take on Sheffield Wednseday next, while the Blues play Leeds United on the road.

Huddersfield Town 1-2 Watford

Duane Holmes played the second half in Huddersfield Town's loss to Watford.

The American teenager came on for Adam Clayton after half time.

Town started the game off well as Daniel Ward notched in the 17th minute, but Fernando Forestieri leveled a minute later and Daniel Pudil gave them the eventual game winner in the 43rd minute.

Huddersfield drop to 13th place and stretch their winless skid to five games.

They look to bounce back in two weeks against Leicester City.

Brighton & Hove Albion 1-3 Nottingham Forest

Eric Lichaj and Nottingham Forest came from behind to beat Brighton & Hove Albion.

Lichaj went the distance and was booked for Forest.

Albion opened the scoring in the 31st minute with a goal from Andrew Crofts, but Forest came storming back in the second half with goals from Henri Lansbury in the 46th minute, Darius Henderson in the 60th minute, and Lansbury's second of the game two minutes later.

Forest are in 4th place and take on AFC Bournemouth in two weeks.

"Zak Whitbread did not dress in Leicester City's loss to Doncaster."

That's probably because he started for Derby County. You've missed the fact that he's been loaned out and has done well at Derby - including scoring on his debut.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
