KENYA BROWN - Friday, January 31, 2014
Brek Shea will be spending more time at English League Championship side Barnsley as he has extended his loan deal with the team for another two months.

The former FC Dallas winger, who was loaned out by English Premier League side Stoke City at the beginning of the year, will remain with the Tykes until April 3.

The Texas native found it difficult to get into the lineup after former Stoke head coach Tony Pulis brought him to the Britannia Stadium in January 2013 after a foot injury hampered his opportunities. After helping the U.S. men's national team claim the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup by scoring the game-winning goal against Panama in the final, Shea found himself on the injury list again.

As he could not break into current Stoke head coach Mark Hughes' lineup, a loan move was the only option he could choose in order to get playing time to remain in contention for a place in the national team's 23-man roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Shea has started two games with relegation-threatened Barnsley so far, making his debut for the team against Birmingham City on January 1.
