BRANDON WIGGINS - Monday, February 17, 2014
A rough 2014 for Alejandro Bedoya and FC Nantes continued with a draw against OGC Nice this weekend.
Bedoya started and went the full 90 minutes after missing last weekend's match, but picked up a yellow card in the 40th minute. This is his second yellow card of the season, one more and he gets suspended for a match.
For Nantes, this is their fifth straight Ligue 1 match with a loss or draw, a brutal downward slide. If that weren't enough, Nantes was docked three points for playing a suspended Abdoulaye Toure in an August match against SC Bastia.
On top of that, the club's leading scorer this season, Filip Djordjevic, was been suspended for three matches (including this recent one against Nice) for an incident against Lyon the weekend before.
With all this done, a team that was once fighting for a spot in a European competition next season is now in the bottom half of the Ligue 1 table in 12th place and must fight to turn the season around.
Bedoya and Nantes will have a shot to begin the turnaround next weekend when they host Rennes, whom they have already played and beaten on the road this season and who currently sit four points behind Nantes in the Ligue 1 table.
