FC Nantes, the club of Alejandro Bedoya, received harsh news on Friday as it was officially hit with a crippling 16 month transfer ban.

The band essentially means that while the club can sell and release players, it cannot acquire a player on a transfer until the summer of 2015.

At the heart of the issue, FC Nantes was given the sanction from FIFA following a dispute over the signing of Ismael Bangoura from Al Nasr in 2012.
After earning promotion to Ligue 1 following the 2012-2013 season, Nantes began the season in strong fashion. Recent months have seen the club's fortunes take a hit and the club is now in 15th place and nine points clear of relegation
