KENYA BROWN - Monday, March 31, 2014
United States national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has made changes to his coaching staff, adding Tab Ramos as an assistant and dropping Martin Vasquez to perform other duties.

The USSF also announced the appointment of former German national team head coach Berti Vogts as a special advisor to the national team.

Ramos, who made 81 appearances for the senior team, is also head coach of the Under-20 national team which he guided to the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup. In addition to his coaching duties, he also succeeded Claudio Reyna to become the USSF's youth technical director in November last year.

Vogts is no stranger to the international soccer scene as he took over coaching duties from German legend Franz Beckenbauer after the 1990 World Cup. His biggest achievement with Die Mannschaft came in 1996 as he guided them to victory at Euro 96 in England. After resigning from the German team in 1998 he would go on to coach the national teams of Kuwait, Scotland, Nigeria and Azerbaijan.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have Berti join us as an advisor," said Klinsmann in a statement on U.S. Soccer's official website. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, both as a player and a coach, and he knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level. He was my coach for Germany in the 1990s and we have a great relationship. Through his time as the head coach of Scotland, Nigeria and Azerbaijan, he is obviously very familiar with our opponents in the group stage of the World Cup, and for us this is a huge bonus."

As special advisor, Vogts duties will include assisting in the development of training plans, preparing scouting reports and observing the United States' three Group G opponents - namely Germany, Ghana and Portugal - ahead of this summer's World Cup in Brazil.

I just find it odd all these Germans coaching the UST how to beat Germany. Personally I'm not sure I could do that to my own country.
