Besiktas remain in the hunt for 2nd place, as they defeated Kayserispor at home Saturday in Istanbul.

With the win, Besiktas remained tied with Galatasaray with 53 points. Galatasaray defeated 1st placed Fenerbahce 1-0 on Sunday. And with a handful of games left, every point counts.

Besiktas took the lead in the 43rd minute thanks to Olcay Sahan, who scored his eighth goal of the season.

With the lead at halftime, Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup scored in the 68th minute, after subbing in for Necip Uysal. Kayserispor scored in extra time, but their effort came up short, as they remain in last place in Super Lig with 25 points.

American midfielder Jermaine Jones played the entire match in the midfield. But for the third consecutive game, Jones received a yellow card.

Besiktas next match is on Friday, April 11 away at Konyaspor.
