BRANDON WIGGINS - Monday, April 7, 2014
Alejandro Bedoya scored for FC Nantes this weekend but that was not enough for the club to get a tough road win at AS Monaco.

Bedoya scored the final goal of the match, in the 78th minute with a header in the penalty box off of a cross from Johan Audel. Unfortunately, Nantes was already down by three goals at that point.

For Monaco, James Rodríguez was the man of the match, scoring both of their goals and assisting the other one. His first goal came in the 18th minute, with a shot from outside the penalty box thanks to a pass from Dimitar Berbatov.

Then, in the 72nd minute, Rodríguez crossed the ball to Andrea Raggi in the penalty box following a corner kick and Raggi was able to head it into the net.

Monaco's final goal came just four minutes later, when Rodríguez converted a penalty kick. Maxime Dupé was booked and given a yellow card for the foul on Fabinho.

By that point, Bedoya's goal was too little too late. Despite the disappointing result for Nantes however, Bedoya went the full 90 minutes in the match, his first time in several matches going the full 90. Furthermore, Bedoya's goal, his fourth of the season, makes him Nantes' second-leading goalscorer this season.

In addition to Dupé , Issa Cissokho and Koffi Djidji were also given yellow cards in the match. Cissokho's yellow card is a particularly tough blow as it is his third, meaning he will be suspended for the next match, and he has been a fixture in Nantes' squad this season.

A win for Nantes on the road at Monaco, the second-place team in Ligue 1 was always going to be a long shot. Fortunately, a loss by Valenciennes means Nantes is still eight points out of the relegation zone.

Nantes will have a shot to bounce back when they host Guingamp next Sunday. Guingamp is currently two points behind Nantes in the Ligue 1 table.
