Juan Agudelo has lost his second appeal for a British work permit which jeopardizes his chances of ever joining Stoke City.
Agudelo, 21, signed for Stoke City last summer on a pre-contract and finished the MLS season with New England. He lost his initial appeal in November and instead was loaned to Utrecht in the Eredivisie where he scored two goals in 15 appearances.
Under the British rules, he had to wait at least four months to reapply and many hoped his case would have been booted with regular minutes in Holland as well as a callup to the U.S. national team for the friendly against Ukraine friendly in March.
The news comes just a day after English FA chief Greg Dyke proposed new rules that would make it more difficult for non-E.U. citizens to play in England.
It is not yet known what the course of action will be for Agudelo.
