San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski has been added to the roster for the U.S. national team's game against Ecuador on Friday, U.S. Soccer announced on Tuesday.

Wondolowski's inclusion in the team will raise the number of player's available to the U.S. to 22. The call up is the first for the 31-year-old since playing for the United States at the 2014 World Cup.

The 2012 MLS MVP will head to Boston to meet with the rest of the team, meaning that he will miss the Earthquakes game against the Portland Timbers on Wednesday.

On the same day U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann announced that Landon Donovan will wear the captain's armband in the Ecuador game. The Los Angeles Galaxy forward is set to play in Friday's game in the lead up to his retirement from the sport at the end of the MLS season.
