AZ Aklmaar and United States national team forward Aron Johannsson is in the final stages of his recovery from a pair of offseason surgeries.

Immediately following the World Cup, Johannsson underwent surgery on his ankle to repair a an injury that affected him at the end of last season. In August, Johannsson underwent another surgery, this time on his groin.

The Alabama-born but Iceland-raised forward has revealed that he is in full training and expects to play with AZ Alkmaar's reserve team on Monday. Those will be his first competitive minutes since June when he replaced Jozy Alitdore in the United States' first group stage game at the World Cup.

Johannsson, 23, is coming off a breakout season in 2013/14 where he scored 26 goals in all competitions for AZ Alkmaar.
