KENYA BROWN - Saturday, November 1, 2014
English Championship side Charlton Athletic have signed United States defender Oguchi Onyewu, the team announced on its official website on Friday.

The deal will run until January. The Maryland native had been a free agent after finishing his contract with fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday last season.

Onyewu, 32, has spent his entire professional career in Europe after leaving Clemson University. He was first signed by French league side Metz in 2002. After loan moves to Belgian league sides La Louviere and Standard Liege, he was signed permanently by the latter in 2004.

The towering defender has played for various teams such as Newcastle, AC Milan, FC Twente, Sporting Lisbon, Malaga and Queen's Park Rangers.

Onyewu, who has 69 caps for the U.S. national team, will be eligible to play for the Addicks in their game against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
