DAVID SMITH - Thursday, November 6, 2014
Babajide Ogunbiyi and Viborg will try to keep within shooting distance of first place while Sebastien Ibeagha and Fredericia will try to snap a five-game winless streak against leaders Lyngby.
FC Fredericia - Lyngby BK
Sebastien Ibeagha will be in Fredericia's starting lineup on Sunday when they host surging division leaders Lyngby.
While Fredericia have been far from spectacular this season, they have done just enough to keep clear of the relegation places, picking up the odd win while pulling out enough draws to slowly pull up their points total.
Their last five have, however been worrisome, with no wins, and two of their three draws being scoreless. They are three points above the drop zone, and with two of the teams below them playing, could be in a spot of trouble by the end of the round.
Lyngby, on the other hand, have surged to the top of the division with a strong run which has seen them lose just once over their last eight in all competitions. In fact, one of their only two league losses came at the hands of Fredericia early in the season, so they will be looking to atone and avenge the home loss with a result in front of their opponents' own home crowd.
Fredericia continue to have a lengthy list of missing players, while Lyngby are without Martin Andersen, who is recovering from a broken collarbone, and Patrick Mortensen, who will likely sit out due to a recent concussion.
Viborg FF - AC Horsens
Babajide Ogunbiyi and Viborg need a home win over struggling Horsens in Monday-night action to boost their promotion hopes.
A slight downturn in Viborg's fortunes where they have only managed two victories in five tries has seen them lose their previous dominance atop the division.
While still holding the fewest number of losses in the league - a single blemish at Vendsyssel two weeks ago - they have been passed by Lyngby for first, and are ahead of a surprisingly strong Vendsyssel team only by way of goal differential.
With both Lyngby and Vendsyssel likely to be favorites in their matchups against middling midtable foes, Ogunbiyi and the Greens can not afford to slip up against Horsens on Monday.
The two teams drew by a 1-1 score in the season opener for both, although Viborg will like their chances with an attack led by Ivorian goalscoring terror Serge Deble.
Neither team is currently reporting any absences.
Mayowa Alli will hope for substitute minutes for Vendsyssel FF on Sunday when they host Brønshøj BK.
