Lynden Gooch has been with Sunderland on a part-time basis since he was 11 and on a full-time basis since he was 17. The club has now extended his stay until 2017 with a new contract.

Gooch, 18, is now with the United States U-20 team in Spain for a tournament and he has emerged as one of Tab Ramos' key players this cycle where he has featured as both a forward and as a midfielder. Gooch is a native of California and holds both British and Irish passports.

This year has been a transition year for Gooch who has moved up to Sunderland's U-21 team but has also had to deal with
