KENYA BROWN - Tuesday, May 26, 2015
United States Under-23 national team head coach Andreas Herzog has revealed his team for the 2015 Toulon Tournament set for May 27-June 7 in southern France.
This will be the first time for the U.S. to participate in the tournament since 2013 when the Under-20 were sent over.
"Toulon is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world at this age level, and we're fortunate to have the opportunity to compete against some of the top teams in the world," said Herzog the U.S. Soccer website. "Having seen matches here many times before, I know the type of talent we will face. This is huge for us as we get ready for qualification this October, and is another step in the development of our players in international competition."
Herzog initially named 19 players to the roster but later added Tyler Turner from Orlando City.
The U.S. is placed in Group A along with Costa Rica, France, Netherlands and Qatar, while Group B consists of China, England, Ivory Coast, Mexico and Morocco.
The top teams from each group will face off in the tournament final on June 7, while the second-place teams will play for third place on the same day.
