DeAndre Yedlin and Newcastle maintained their spot at the top of the Championship standings with another win, this time over Burton Albion.
Burton Albion 1-2 Newcastle United
Goals from Dwight Gayle and Mohamed Diamé were all the Magpies needed as they claimed the victory at Pirelli Stadium to push their winning streak to three.
DeAndre Yedlin started at right back for Newcastle and played the entire game.
Newcastle scored the first goal of the game in the 15th minute Jonjo Shelvey's pass from midfield would find Matt Ritchie, who then overpowered his marker and crossed ball in the area from the left for Gayle to unleash a back heel shot past Albion goalkeeper Jonathan McLaughlin.
The host would find the equalizer five minutes later when John Brayford's back heeled pass in the area found teammate Lloyd Dyer, who tapped in his shot from close range.
Diamé went on to score the eventual winner for Newcastle in the 34th minute when Gayle's flick on allowed the Senegal international to make a run at the goal and tuck his shot into the back of the net.
The win keeps Newcastle atop of the standings with 49 points.
Jonathan Spector started and played the entire game for Birmingham City as goal in the last minute of stoppage time saw them lose 2-1 to Brighton.
