WOOD EXTENDS HAMBURG STAY
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
KENYA BROWN - Monday, June 26, 2017
US forward Bobby Wood has ended all speculation of a move away from German Bundesliga team Hamburg as it was announced that he has signed a contract extension.

The deal will see the 24-year-old stay with Die Rothosen until 2021.

Wood, who joined Hamburg from 2.Bundesliga team Union Berlin in 2016, scored five goals in his first season with the team that saw them hovering around the relegation zone. This led to rumors that Wood could spend a short time at the Volksparkstadion as it was rumored that he had a 12-million euro release clause in his contract. Teams such as Borussia Dortmund, Leicester City and West Ham United were reported to be swarming around to sign Wood.

The Hawaii-born forward has now put all the rumors to rest with his contract extension and will be looking to build on his first season and help Hamburg improve on their performance in the new season.
