GONZALEZ COMPLETES US SWITCH
EXTRA TIME
KENYA BROWN - Sunday, July 2, 2017
FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez has finalized his one-time switch and will now be able to play for the United States national team, US Soccer announced on Thursday.

Gonzalez's decision to represent the US over Mexico adds another player to the goalkeeper depth chart, with the likes of Tim Howard, Brad Guzan, Nick Rimando, Ethan Horvath and several others in the mix.

The 22-year-old, who was born in North Carolina, had a desire to play for Mexico and represented the team at both the under-20 and under-23 levels, but never got a look for the senior team.

US head coach Bruce Arena named the goalkeeper to the preliminary 40-man roster for this month's CONCACAF Gold Cup, but was not selected among the 23 players for the group stage. However, he can be called into the team once the tournament reaches the knockout stage.
