Cameron Carter-Vickers will play this season in the English Championship as it was confirmed on Friday that Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur have sent him on loan to Sheffield United.
The 19-year-old center back will spend the season with the Blades, although Spurs can recall him in January, as he hopes to earn more playing time and experience that could help him with his development in the long run.
Carter-Vickers is highly rated by the Spurs' coaching staff as head coach Mauricio Pochettino named him among the substitutes last season. While he did not play any games in the EPL, he did play for the team in their domestic cup competitions.
When speaking of the young defender, Sheffield United head coach Chris Wilder said he could not wait to work with him.
"Cameron is young, athletic and highly-rated by Tottenham and we're delighted we've been trusted to continue his development," he said. "He is a central defender with a good attitude and adds competition for places in that area. I like the way Tottenham play and it's clear that Cameron has the ability to be a very good player."
United will look to move up the standings this weekend as they take on Derby County at home. The team currently sit in 12th place.
