The United States national team will return to action on November 14 as they will face European champions Portugal after their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
US Soccer made the announcement on Monday as they said the game will take place in the Algarve.
Following the team's 2-1 defeat to Trinidad and Tobago, which dropped them out of the third automatic spot and the playoff place, Bruce Arena resigned, leaving the US with no coach. US Soccer president Sunil Gulati said in a conference call last week that he would announce an interim coach for the team ahead of the friendly.
The US and Portugal are no strangers to each other as they faced off on six occasions. The last time they met was in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
