Should U.S. Soccer bring back the U.S. Cup?

Ventura Alvarado made his debut for Necaxa but he and the team could do nothing to stop Chivas de Guadalajara as they would go on to lose in Liga MX action over the weekend.

Necaxa 1-3 Chivas

Two second half goals helped Chivas to a much-needed win over struggling Necaxa at the Estadio Victoria de Aguascalientes.

Necaxa have thus far stumbled out of the gate during the Clausura, having only earned one point out it first two games. They had the chance to reverse their fortunes against Chivas who were also looking to get their first win of the campaign.

The visitors would open the scoring 10 minutes in when Eduardo Lopez beat two defenders near the touch line before crossing the ball into the area. The ball took a deflection but fell into the path of Alan Pulido who blasted his shot past goalkeeper Marcelo Barovero.

The host would level the score before the halftime whistle as Victor Davila's cross from the right was easily headed in by Carlos Gonzalez.

The score remained deadlocked for awhile until Chivas found an opening in the 65th minute when Barovero fumbled the ball following a shot from Rodolfo Pizarro. The ball went right back to Pizarro and he passed it over to Ronaldo Cisneros to tap in from close range.

Chivas put the game away in the 89th minute as Edwin Hernandez's free kick skimmed off the head of a Necaxa player, leaving Barovero no chance to make the save.

The loss puts Necaxa in 15th place in the standings.
