KENYA BROWN - Wednesday, June 20, 2018
Andrija Novakovich will test himself in the Eredivisie this season as it announced on the Wednesday that the forward has been sent out on loan to Fortuna Sittard from Reading.

The move comes after the 21-year-old signed a brand new two-year contract with the English Championship team.

Novakovich was a revelation last season when he played in the Dutch Eerste Divisie with SC Telstar, scoring 19 goals in 35 games and helping the team to make the promotion playoffs. They were knocked out in the second round by De Graafschap.

Fortuna, on the other hand, finished the season in second place in the standings to earn automatice promotion to the top flight. Now, as they look to build the team in order to be competitive during the 2018-2019 Eredivisie season, they are more than happy that they have got a man that can hopefully put the goals away for them.

"I am delighted that Andrija has chosen us," said Fortuna technical director Mustafa Aztopal in a statement on their official website. "He played an excellent season with Telstar, which meant several Eredivisie clubs wanted to sign him. We have done our best to get him to Sittard and with success."

"Andrija believes in the project we started and has confidence in the club. With him we get a complete striker who has a good understanding of depth, is pretty fast and who is not afraid to carry out his defensive duties. He is an American international and just as ambitious as we are. I am therefore convinced that next season he will become one of the most important players in our team. Andrija already told me that he is happy to be part of Fortuna family now."

The Wisconsin native's play last season earned him a call up to the US national team as he earned his first cap in the friendly against Paraguay.

Novakovich will have his first chance to make Fortuna's starting eleven when they open the Eredivisie season against Shane O'Neill, Desevio Payne and Excelsior on August 12.
