Jose Torres and Michael Orozco played for their respective teams as Puebla and Lobos BUAP played out a thrilling tie while Omar Gonzalez scored as Atlas' struggles continued.

Puebla 2-2 Lobos BUAP

Michaell Chirinos' game-tying goal went on to help Lobos steal a point in the end as they came from behind over Puebla at
Estadio Cuauhtemoc.

As the race gets tighter for the Apetura playoff spots, every team is fighting to claim as many points as they can. And both teams in this contest were desperate need of maximum points to get closer to the top eight.

Lobos would break the scoreless deadlock in the 39th minute when a deflected pass rolled into the path of Leonardo Ramos and the forward did not hesitate as he tapped the ball into the goal from close range.

The visitors entered the second half with the momentum in their favor, but Puebla would level the score just minutes into the restart as Jorge Espericueta took a pass from teammate Brayan Angulo and curled his shot into the back of the net past Lobos goalkeeper Jose Rodriguez.

Puebla then took the lead three minutes later when Omar Fernandes released Lucas Cavallini with a through-ball and the Canadian's shot found the goal despite Rodriguez getting a hand on the ball.

The game was winding to the latter stages when Lobos found the equalizer in the 81st minute when Yago Cesar's cross into the area found Chirinos, who brought the ball down before putting his shot past Puebla goalkeeper Nicolas Vikonis.

The tie leaves Puebla in 13th place in the standings with 15 points while Lobos lies in 16th with 11 points.

Santos Laguna 3-1 Atlas

Atlas will certainly want the Apertura to end as soon as possible as they suffered another loss, this time at the hands of Santos Laguna at Estadio Nuevo Corona.

If Liga MX had not suspened promotion/relegation, Atlas would certainly be candidates for the drop as they have only won a single game out of the 12 played so far and there appears to be no end in sight as to when the bleeding will stop.

And the visitors showed just how bad the season has been when they allowed last season's Clausura champions to open the scoring 18 minutes into the contest. Julio Furch would play a lovely one-two in the area with Jonathan Rodriguez before the Argentine forward burried the ball in the back of the net.

It did not take long for Santos to double their lead in the second half as Osvaldo Martinez's free-kick cleared the Atlas wall and the ball nestled itself into the goal.

Omar Gonzalez would then help Atlas cut the deficit in the 50th minute when he headed in a free-kick from teammate Cristian Calderon.

However, the host were too strong as Rodriguez iced the game in the 57th minute as the Uruguayan headed the ball into the goal off a corner kick from Martinez.

Atlas remained rooted to the bottom of the standings with five points.
