Mix Diskerud scored twice to help Ulsan Hyundai advance to the group stage of the AFC Champions League as they knocked off Malaysia's Perak FA.

Ulsan Hyundai 5-1 Perak FA

Mix Diskerud would play a vital role for Ulsan Hyundai as he bagged two goals to see the South Korean team dominate Perak in their AFC Champions League playoff game at the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium.

Diskerud, who is on loan with the K Leauge 1 team from Manchester City, started the game for the Tigers and played the entire game as they will now look to make a run in Asia's top club competition.

The host were clearly the dominant team from the start and were rewarded with the first goal in the 23rd minute thanks to Perak's Amirul Azahan. Kim Tae-Hwan made a strong run into the area with the ball and sent a low cross across the goal mouth, with Azahan, unfortunately, redirecting the ball into his own net.

The second half of the game would be all Ulsan, and Diskerud would be in the middle of the action as he helped seal the team's place in the group stages.

The midfielder scored his first goal in the 56th minute when he took possession of a throw-in from teammate Park Joo-Ho before dribbling around a pair of defenders in the area to send a low curling shot past Perak goalkeeper Muhammad Hafizul Hakim.

If Diskerud's first goal was impressive, his second two minutes later was simply scintillating as he collected a pass from Kim In-Sung and fired in a curler from long range that a diving Hafizul was not going to reach.

Lee Dong-Kyung scored Ulsan's fourth in the 70th minute as he was left all alone to pounce on the loose ball to put it in the back of the net.

Junior Negao bagged the host's fifth in the 87th minute as he ran onto a pass from Kim In-Sung to calmly put away.

Ulsan will be disappointed that they could not keep the shutout as Nazirul Naim scored a consolation goal for Perak in the 90th minute.

With the playoff now out of the way, Diskerud and Ulsan now head to the group stages where they will be placed in Group H with likes of Kawasaki Frontale (Japan), Shanghai SIPG (China) and Sydney FC (Australia).
