MIAZGA REJOINS READING
EXTRA TIME
KENYA BROWN - Wednesday, July 24, 2019
Matt Miazga is headed back to the English Championship as it was announced on Wednesday that the center-back has rejoined Reading on another season-long loan from Chelsea.

The New Jersey native played for the team in the second half of last season after abruptly ending his loan spell with French Ligue 1 team Nantes after being bench by their coach Vahid Halilhodzic. Miazga would go to play in 18 games for the Royals and be a catalyst in helping them stave off relegation.

After signing with Chelsea in 2016, Miazga has been making a career for himself going out on loan on several occasions with some success.

In the 2016-2017 season he was sent out on loan for the first time to Dutch Eredivisie team Vitesse. He worked his was into the starting lineup and played a huge role in helping the team win their first silverware in its history by winning the Dutch Cup. He would remain with the team for the 2017-2018 season and once again show his importance as he helped nail down a place in the Europa League while also wearing the captain's armband on a few occasions.

Miazga will be re-joining a Reading team that will be looking to reverse their fortunes from last season and make a push for promotion.

The towering center-back could see his first action for the team on Sunday when they play their final preseason game against Chelsea followed by the season opener on August 3 when they will clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
